In 2008, Bring 'Em Down Productions began working with the Stevens-Swan Humane Society of Utica, NY to help raise money for homeless animals that the shelter was caring for. The idea was for Bring 'Em Down to host an annual benefit, during which local bands would play, and all funds raised would be donated to the shelter. The first year started small, with just two bands performing in front of a modest audience of about 50 people. About $500 was brought in during that first year. Moving forward, several changes were made to the benefit such as the addition of several more bands (per year), as well as the decision to turn the benefit into a 4-day event. The benefit quickly gained popularity, and by it's fifth year, the event typically showcased upwards of 30 bands performing, while successfully raising an average of about $5000 over the 4 days.
By 2013, the idea to make "Waiting On You" was already in the works. Many of the performances (during previous benefits) were already being recorded, and it only made sense to take the best available and make a compilation album with them. The album would then be sold (in digital form, as well as physical copy), and the money raised from sales, once again, would be presented to the shelter. Each band was asked to donate a song from their performance, which all generously agreed to.
As of 2018, more than $50,000 has been raised for the Stevens Swan Humane Society through annual benefits and sales of this album. We at Bring 'Em Down Productions want to thank each and every one of you that has contributed to the cause, and look forward to your continued support.
